Questions saved on your device
Submitting a question automatically saves its text, time, time zone, theme and encounter status in this app's encrypted device history. A cancelled shake still leaves the submitted question in history. Unsubmitted drafts are not added. Ratings are saved when you move the resonance slider; an untouched slider is not a rating. A quotation and its source details are associated with your question only when you choose Save answer.
What the 60-second timer clears
The answer stays on screen for 60 seconds, with a gentle fade during the final five seconds. The timer removes the answer from the screen. It does not delete submitted questions, ratings or answers you explicitly saved. Temporary shake samples are not written to history or exports.
Storage and access
History is stored in the app's private storage using authenticated encryption and a key held by Android Keystore. App backup and device-transfer backup are disabled. Anyone who can open the app on an unlocked device can view its history; this version has no separate app lock. Device or key loss can make history unavailable. There is no account or server copy from which we can restore it.
Voice input
Tap the question field to open your normal keyboard. If you choose its voice typing, the keyboard handles audio, permissions, language availability and recognition under its own settings and privacy policy; it may use online services. Fleeting Thoughts has no microphone button, does not record audio, requests no microphone permission and runs no speech recognizer. Fleeting Thoughts receives inserted text as ordinary input and saves it only when you submit the question. You can type normally without using voice input.
Local ambient sound
A bundled sound loop plays locally while Fleeting Thoughts is open, fading in to 20% player volume over three seconds. Your device media-volume setting controls the listening level. On leaving or locking the app it fades out over three seconds and stops. Audio interruptions may stop it sooner. The loop does not use microphone access or internet services, and playback is not logged or exported.
No advertising, analytics or automatic uploads
This version has no advertising, analytics, account system or internet permission. Fleeting Thoughts does not automatically send your questions or ratings to a developer server or an LLM. Quotation selection uses the chosen theme and device randomness with motion timing; it does not analyse the words in your question.
Export is your choice
Export for reflection creates an ordinary readable JSON file through Android's document picker. It contains question text, timestamps, themes, ratings and answers you saved. The export includes a guide for later reflection with an LLM; it does not call a model. The location you select can be a local folder or a cloud document provider. If you share that file or select a cloud provider, those services handle their copy under their own policies. Exported files are outside the app's encrypted history.
Retention and deletion
Questions stay on the device until you delete individual entries, erase history or uninstall the app. Erase history removes the local encrypted history file and its encryption key. The app does not erase exported copies or files held by other services. History has a 5,000-entry limit; older questions are not silently discarded. When storage cannot save a submission, the app reports the problem instead of starting the encounter.
Historical writing and reflection
Quotations express their writers' or reported speakers' perspectives, including historical assumptions. They are offered for reflection, not as predictions or personalised medical, financial or legal advice. An anthology credit does not establish original authorship or a writer's personal endorsement. Any later LLM interpretation is optional and should not turn a question into a diagnosis or a fixed personality profile.
